Sponsorship Licence Extension
What is Sponsorship Licence Extension?
If a holder of the Sponsorship Licence wants to continue to sponsor migrants, they will need to renew their licence before it expires. Licence holders have the possibility of extending their sponsor licence for a further 4 years.
What is the process for the renewal of a Sponsorship Licence?
Sponsor licence renewal applications must be submitted online through the Sponsor Management System (SMS).
Licence holders may be asked to submit additional documents to UKVI within five working days of the request. If a sponsoring company fails to send requested documents, UKVI may reduce or remove their CoS allocation or downgrade, suspend, or revoke their licence.
When can a company apply for renewal of Sponsorship Licence?
A sponsoring company can apply to renew their sponsorship licence up to 90 days prior to their licence is due to expire. Moreover, if a company has any sponsored migrants working for them and they want them to continue working for them, their licence must be renewed even if they do not plan to sponsor any new migrants.
Will a business be Audited when applying for Sponsor Licence Extension?
The Home Office may choose the business for a Compliance Audit if the activity of the business in the past has been suspicious.
How long does it take for a Sponsorship Licence Extension?
All Sponsorship Licence Extensions take up to 8 weeks. An extension application cannot be expedited.
What documents do i need to submit with a Sponsorship Licence Extension?
There are no specific documents requested at the time of extension but if the Home Office wishes to clarify any detail of the Licence, they may request further documentation via email to the Authorising Officer.
What is an Undefined Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)?
Undefined CoS are meant for Skilled Workers applying from within the UK, as well as all other sponsored applicants. These also include foreign migrants who intend to switch sponsors from inside the UK or to extend their stay in the UK as a sponsored foreign migrant.
What is a Defined Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)?
Defined CoS are intended for workers seeking from outside the UK for Skilled Worker, International Sportsperson, or Temporary Worker visas. The application process for the Defined CoS for these foreign migrants must be completed using the sponsorship management system (SMS). The SMS authorising officer must not be related to the migrants to whom the Certificate of Sponsorship is issued.
